I didn’t pee myself, but it was a very near thing.
So far, I’m getting frustrated by the preciousness of some of the conversations. Baker seems to say, “Aha, I’ve finally found a way to sneak in all the cute writer-y things I always think that I’m sure people would love to read.” It’s erotic nonetheless.
And by the way, I had no idea what this book was when I took it out of the library on a friend’s recommendation. I even asked the librarian about toddler music time as though I was taking out picture books. She gave me a very judgemental little snort and wouldn’t look me in the eye… I thought this was a liberal town!
I keep trying to take this out of my stereo, but I can’t. I CAN’T! It’s beyond my control!
There’s more clarity in this album. He seems to be emerging from behind some screen I hadn’t noticed before. Wow, that is not helpful information.
Every time I hear this album I’m transported to parties in the woods with my brother’s friends drinking cheap beer all around me. It’s weirdly comforting. Ahh, 1994.
Hmm… Jury’s still out, I think. I might be too attached to other albums of theirs.
Cullum is basically a rock star resisting his fate through jazz. I friggin love it. Don’t always love the ego, but hey, it’s still good music.
This album isn’t actually called “Saturate Before Using,” turns out… Of all the paths Jackson Browne took, this reminds me of his talent as a sort of solitary figure. It’s a weirdly private album.
I would do Jamiroquai. Y’know, if he asked me.
