Fairly well done — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I enjoyed this dark comedy remake. Tom Hanks. who usually annoys me, did quite well as a southern gentleman. I felt they overdid some things such as the Asian guy popping the cigarette into his mouth, the shots of the lady’s dead husband, criminals swearing and the IBS moments. This tended to turn funny yet somewhat believeable characters into farsical characatures. I saw the original as a kid and remember enjoying it, but I don’t remember it well enough to compare. Over all this is worth consuming but not great.

Samurai meets Western weets Anne Rice — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

First of all, I must admit that the previous poster was correct in that the special effects were very bad. The monsters were very obviously in latex masks (a la Power Rangers or Godzilla). Beyond that, I did like the movie.

Unlike the previous poster I thought the acting and action were decent. Though I avoid dubbing whenever possible, so I chose the subtitle option; perhaps this held the level of the absurd down to a tolerable level.

All in all the story was very Anne Rice. The monster people and humans used to live together, but the humans drove them out into the hills. On group of them live in a town and aspire to make a deal with humans to be able to live in harmony. Of course you sympathize with the monsters and the humans end up being the real monsters.

My true regret was that you don’t see Kimbakichi turn into Werewolf form until the very end. Before that he is the mysterious ronin.

This particular movie helped me see the similarity between the samurai movie and the american western. It makes sense to me that a (better) movie such as Seven Samurai could translate to the Magnificent Seven.

Could be the worst movie ever — 3 years ago

This movie was very bad. Extremely bad. So very bad, that I enjoyed it… a little. Tons of bad effects, horrible acting, bad dialogue, fake blood and boobs. It even featured Ron Jeremy as a bible salesman named Craven Moorehead. Yes, that is how bad it is. If you were to go out with a couple video cameras, 6 gallons of fake blood and a $100 gift certificate to a halloween store, you could make a better movie.

Promises a story that will make you believe in God. — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

All in all I thought that this was a great book. Much of it, especially the ending I don’t want to spoil. Let me just say that this is a book about life and living. It shows you the beauty of the world and the horror of the world and it makes you think about how humans cope with horrible circumstances.
The writing was very easy to read and flowed beautifully from one page to the next. Oh and there is a boy in the middle of the Pacific on a lifeboat with a Bengal Tiger, but you probably got that from the cover.

You can pop them in your mouth and chew them up or feel the burn by letting them sit on your tongue for 20 seconds.

A story about "Feta cheese, artichoke heart & sundried tomato pizza" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is a great combo on pizza. So good that it only just dawned on me seeing the tag that it is a veggie pizza. Expecially good with pesto sauce.

A story about "The Eye 2" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The Eye 2 was different from many horror/thriller movies that I have seen, in that the conclusion was not any change in the situation itself, but rather the main character coming to a better understanding of what is going on around her. In that way it was a little like Jacob’s Ladder. This movie definately had its creepy moments.

A story about the last time I consumed "Where the Red Fern Grows" — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

My teacher read this to the class when I was in 4th or 5th grade. I remember getting caught up in the story and being horribly disturbed and upset by the book later on. I may have over-reacted to the book at the time, but I haven’t liked it since.
