This book needed to be written. However it could use an edit. There is frequent repetition and do we need so many CORBA references?
I hate when I buy a book on a programming language and I slog through the whole thing just to find that all I learned from 500+ pages was some syntax. This book is not that way. It assumes that you already know programming and teaches you the details of C# and the CLR.
This was a great book. Just finished it and enjoyed it very much. If you have any interest in kung fu or chinese culture, or just want to read some interesting non-fiction, give it a try. Highly recommended!
The Goblet of Fire used to be my favorite book in the series, but it isn’t anymore. A great conclusion to a wonderful series.
Just starting out with ASP.NET this book was very useful to me. However, I am quickly tiring of the excessive and redundant code examples, and am finding that the space they take up would have been put to better use by going further in depth. I’m surprised to find that I’m already encountering issues that this book does not cover.
I got this at the library and read 200 pages. Then I got interested in technical books again. This hit the back burner and before long it gathered dust during its 2 renewals. Then it went back
I got this in the mail two days ago. After taking a break of about a year, I want to get back into programming (in gererally) and using Ruby (specifically). I was looking for a book that would not be focused on the fundamentals and concepts of programming (this is an object, etc). I also wanted a book that delivered useful, practical examples of Ruby code, comments on best practices, used regexps and test driven development. If it wasn’t too much, I also wanted a book that would be enjoyable to read (for me). I’m currently on chapter 9 and thus far it has delivered on all fronts. Excellent book, Thanks Brian!
This is not a bad book, but Clive has done so much with his past works that it’s seemed worse than it was. This book has no beginning and no end. It’s beginning is The Great and Secret Show and its ending really wasn’t there. Is there a 3rd book of the Art?
