A review of "The Graveyard Book" — 24 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book was delicious. I savored each paragraph, each sentence, each word. I found myself becoming lost in its pages, realizing that it ended much too quickly… as is the case with all good books.

My favorite parts were the inscriptions on the headstones, as well as how the different characters spoke, depending on when they were alive.

Fantastic book. Highly recommended. Bon appetit!

Meh. — 24 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’ve been reading Sue Grafton books for years now, and this one has both the quickest ending and the loosest storyline. The killer in this one didn’t seem to have any motive whatsoever. The ending was pretty anticlimactic. I did, however, enjoy the flashbacks that gave us (the readers) little nuggets of information as we read. I was hoping that there had been more motive for the killer other than simple greed. It always seems better when there’s revenge or a secret that they’re trying to keep secret. Oh well. On to the next one!

A question I have about "Casino" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Why did Joe Pesci’s accent come and go? It was hard to focus on what he was saying, because I was too focused on how he was saying it. This was one of the things that bugged me about this movie. I still liked it, though.

A story about "A Dog's Life: Autobiography of a Stray" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I love reading books that come from the perspective of an animal. This book was so touching and so real. I know that people mistreat animals, and I know that others may see having a dog as a pet can be a blessing. I have two little mini dachshunds of my own, and I hope I make them as happy as they make me. Wonderful book for any dog lover, or for anyone who just likes a good story.

A story about "The Poisoner's Handbook" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I don’t usually read nonfiction, but this book was presented in a way in which I forgot I was reading nonfiction! I heard a chapter from this book on ‘Chapter a Day’ on Wisconsin Public Radio. I was hooked from the moment Jim Fleming said “cyanide”. Hehe. Good read!

Why I recommend "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest (Millennium Trilogy)" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book was a great example of how an author would want to finish off the final book in a great trilogy. I wish I could read them all over again… And this time I won’t inhale them the way I did. :-)

Why I recommend "Fallen: A Novel" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Karin Slaughter has done it again. This book was a great read… Even better than the last one! I like how we got to know more about Faith in this book.

The Girl Who Played with Fire — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book was great. Like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, it was hard to get into initially, but it ended up being quite the page-turner. And what a cliffhanger! I need to get my hands on the next one ASAP.

I Thought it was Better than Okay — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was hard to get into. I have no patience for a book that takes so long to get started. By the time I realized how the different story lines were finally fitting together, I was already a third of the way into it, so I figured I’d just finish it. By the time I got to the last third of it, I couldn’t put it down.

If you’re considering reading this book, give it a chance before you give up on it. I almost did, and I’m glad I didn’t.

A story about "The Front (Win Garano)" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I didn’t think this one was as good as At Risk. Cornwell has said that she isn’t planning on writing another Win Garano book at this time. We’ll see what the future holds!
