A story about "Marie Antoinette" — 2 years ago
It was an awful movie! Thought it would get better so I kept watching, but overall felt like it was a waste of time.

Excellent flick! Great and unexpected ending, all star cast!!!
Very well done. Even though I wasn’t familiar with the characters, I felt it played out nicely. Shocking ending, didn’t expect that. Really thought that the homesteading versus the Indians gave me a new perspective, and most certainly the settlers in the end.
Definitely not a rental but a purchase. Excellent and you don’t get the mystery until the end. Actors were wonderful and movie drew you in.
I read this story in 15 minutes and it was excellent. This is the first Hemingway I have read and I found it to be an enjoyable experience. Very straight forward and to the point. Happy end.
My 3 year old daughter and I watched half of this last night, need to wait till netflix sendt the other half. I got it in hopes of getting her excited about our Little House on the Prairie theme for 2007. Left me with lots of memories as well as questions about settler life, mainly HOW did they do it? I’m thinking and right about now I’d grab my cell phone. Then reality of pioneer life sets in, hey that was impossible. The thrill of getting a cow for milk floored me cuz I just grab mine at the store. Still wnat to mention that I do think that Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert were the best Pa and Laura.
Had a nice perspective leaving the story as a nice love story that all worked out. Found out that there is a sequal this morning so that may change things. Oh and I have read this one before too.
Moneky Hunting – Overall Review
This is nearly getting a Not Worth Consuming from me and I love the author Christina Garcia and looked so forward to reading this book which may be why I am so let down. Typically I am able to get the entire picture from a novel, even if it is not plot driven – which this one had absolutely no plot, no character growth and no reason to continue reading. The concept is excellent, finding the descendents from one country (China) and tracing them through three eras and three countries (China, Cuba, and America)! Definitely a concept worth exploring maybe more in a saga type novel, not a 251 page novel where you have no time to explore the characters and their connections to one another. Not to take anything away from Garcia – Dreaming in Cuban was set up similar to this, but you had more time with each character and came to love and show concern for what happened to them. Here, you just didn’t care because you didn’t really know the characters. The linear patterns for all three characters went like this, born, shifted location, something big happens, death or in Chen Pan’s case immortality. The something big that happened was also so slight that you barely knew something happened overall. There were no problems, just daily life adjusting the characters, again no reason to read. This is just my opinion and I may be missing the big picture on this one, but I typically don’t.
My daughter was a little fussier with Chapter 2, but we survived especially when the big panther chase come and ended the chapter. Still very simplistic, more of a daily life story than a plot driven one.
Reading this with my 3 year old daughter, she may be too young, but we sure enjoyed chapter 1 last night. Very simplistic, but it reminds me of the life I am living here in good old freezing cold Wisconsin about now.
