A story about "Operating Instructions: A Journal of My Son's First Year" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I read more of this book last night and to be honest it is just dragging on by and I don’t really want to read it. I will however finish it and do find it to be amusing in places. While it is in journal format, I find it quite interesting that the author is writing about her son’s first year of life and says what she feels. I wonder how her Sam felt when he read this later on in his life. She moves from love to hate, to love back and forth and calls him some pretty brutal names. Not to mention, it also amazes me, her being religious the language she uses. I guess that is just part of being human and I shouldn’t be judgemental on it at all because in a big sense I am the same way too.

A story about "Little House on the Prairie Book and Charm (Charming Classics)" — 2 years ago

Last night my daughter and I started this book, she was so excited. We read chapters 1 and 2 and I noticed that it is very much like the Little House on the Prairie movie that I just watched with her. I shall say however that the book sure wraps up the journey a heck of a lot quicker than the movie did. Looking forward to this book.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Made some headway with this and am seeing a little more dissappointment in the sense that stuff is happenening and it is supposed to happen because it was built up on for example, Pacey and Andi being in love, there was no build up, it was one day they are dating and two episodes later they are in love. So I guess I’m seeing that there wasn’t enough depth to the characters.

WORTH CONSUMING!

My daughter didn’t want me to read last night because she didn’t want me to finish the book. I’ll tell you this made me feel very good, because I did struggle to get her involved in the book in the first place. Tonight, we start Little House on the Prairie and I am happy about this because it not only gives us quality, educational time together, but helps me get her into a nighttime routine. I enjoyed the book, perhaps more than I thought I would. I do know that it gives me a lot to be thankful for in the way of modern conveinces and food. How a person could be heavy set in those times with all the physical labor and not too much in the way of fatty foods (they ate so many vegetables for dinner and not a lot of meat until winter) is beyond me. Excellent Read.

WORTH CONSUMING!

My daughter and I read Sugar Snow last night and enjoyed it immensely. I must say, I now know why these books grew on me as a kid. They are simple, yet engaging, and they can be read in sittings, as they are daily life driven and not plot driven. She now looks forward to our reads, which makes me happy because I didn’t think that this was going to work out and that she was too young. We are going to try and wrap this book up this week and start our next one next week.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I read quite a bit in this book the other day, but I have to admit, I am fizzling out on it and feel that I am just simply not interested in finishing it. I’m almost half way through. Blah, Blah, Blah, there is no real what is going to happen interest…

WORTH CONSUMING!

We read 2 1/2 chapters last night and my daughter really seemed to enjoy it. She actually asked me to read “Laura” We read about Christmas and I really enjoyed the Aunt Eliza Panther story, we read about Sundays and that was nice to, but goodness, I couldn’t imagine having to be so solemn on my one relaxing day and then we read about the tree bear and the bear in the yard. Very fascinating.

WORTH CONSUMING!

My daughter and I have been reading this every now and then and read a few chapters over the weekend. We are enjoying the little storys within the story and also the Christmas story. I actually read ahead a bit about the panther and Aunt Eliza cuz I couldn’t help myself. If I keep the segments short, she enjoys. :)

WORTH CONSUMING!

My Vet recommended this to me. So I picked it up. So far so good, extremely funny. Basically about a 35 year old woman who had partied to much in her early days, got pregnant by a friend and had a child out of wedlock. She had a strong support system and is journaling the first year of her son’s life.
