Enya — 2 years ago

If I was stranded on a desert island and I could only take one artist with me…. it would be Enya.

With a beautiful and haunting voice, Enya transcends time and space to create an overwhelming surge of emotions in her listener.

Henry IV Part 2 by Shakespeare — 2 years ago

I am uncertain how a review could ever do justice to the incredible writing of Shakespeare, so I will not attempt more than to say what an impressively intellectually challenging piece of literature this work is, written in the beautiful and eloquent Shakespearean language we have all come to know and love.

The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien — 2 years ago

I am not sure that a review is even necessary for the caliber of books that the The Lord of the Rings trilogy makes up. It is an incredible masterpiece and definitely one of my favorite collections.

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas — 2 years ago

This is very easily my favorite piece of literature (with A Tale of Two Cities in close second). I originally picked this book up because I had heard it described as one of the greatest romance novels ever written – they weren’t kidding. Saturated by action, adventure, love, betrayal, and revenge, this book intricately weaves the gripping lives of its characters into a tumultuous interdependent and eventually explosive climax. While a translation of its original French publication, the story’s language is still rich and beautiful, eloquently leading the reader through a gripping tale of justice, mercy, and redemption.

Macbeth by Shakespeare — 2 years ago

As always, Shakespeare saturates his work with genius ideas, concepts, and imagery. He continually challenges the status quo with the ingenious implications made through his literature. Heavy with religious concerns, questions, and suggestions, Macbeth is another masterpiece.

A Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught — 2 years ago

While I enjoy romance novels I am actually very picky as to what type of romance novels I prefer to read. I do not like Harlequin romance and many times I do not like modern day romance novels. For the most part I stick to historical romance, but even then I prefer them to have some substance to them. Heavy with conflict, emotion, dialogue, and imagery A Kingdom of Dreams is one such novel.

“Abducted from her convent school, headstrong Scottish beauty Jennifer Merrick does not easily surrender to Royce Westmoreland, Duke of Claymore. Known as “The Wolf,” his very name strikes terror in the hearts of his enemies. But proud Jennifer will have nothing to do with the fierce English warrior who holds her captive, this handsome rogue who taunts her with his blazing arrogance. Boldly she challenges his will…until the night he takes her in his powerful embrace, awakening in her an irresistible hunger. And suddenly Jennifer finds herself ensnared in a bewildering web…a seductive, dangerous trap of pride, passion, loyalty, and overwhelming love.” Amazon Editorial Review

The Best Movie of the Year — 3 years ago

I absolutely loved this film. I saw it in the IMAX on opening weekend. Admittedly, I was worried that my husband who was going to see it with me would be offended by what would probably be a liberal extremist plot. But we both love Natalie Portman and couldn’t help ourselves. In any case, the film ended up having a very strong but not politically motivated (affiliation agenda) message. I love a movie that is able to provoke thought and that is exactly what this movie did very cleaverly.

Excellent — 3 years ago

This was an excellent film. The artistry of camera shots, angles, and locations in addition to the acting gave this film a very intimate setting. Furthermore it was a very good script, utilizing a well-articulated political commentary.
