Third entry in the Hunter’s Trilogy.
First appearance of Mugsy.
First score entirely by Milt Franklyn.
The main character in this film happens to have a less than outstanding moral character. This does not and should not diminish the film’s worth as many films feature a devious protagonist. If this con man (who is the main focus of the plot) were a great guy, the movie wouldn’t make any sense. We, as the audience, are there to gain an inside glimpse into his world. Even if one does not approve of the character’s actions, it is still possible to enjoy this film, because we are able to see his life become nearly identical to his con man predecesor’s in that an inevitable, career-shattering, downward spiral awaits him toward the film’s climax.
