A story about "Volta" — 2 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Well, I listened to Volta and I have to say; I am disappointed. There were 2 songs I thought were OK but nothing stood out as interesting or beautiful. In fact most of the album was, dare I say, awful. I have almost all of Bjork’s CD’s and this one is by far the worst. There is nothing new here which isn’t so bad. However, the duet tracks are the worst. Not my cup of tea. One thing I do like is the amazing color photograph booklet on the inside of the CD. WOW, these are beautiful, vibrant photographs. I am going to see her live this Saturday and I’m sure the show will be fantastic as long as she performs a healthy amount of older material. Nevertheless, I’m optimistic the show will be fun. Fingers crossed ;)

A story about "Harvest Storm" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

My husband said to me once, I never would have thought that you would like Celtic music. Well, he’s right. I’m not exactly a huge Celtic music fan but there are a few albums that I like, mainly because I discovered them when I was younger and I have good feelings associated with these albums. Harvest Storm is one of them. This album makes me want to fly to Ireland, have a dark beer in a pub and knit something beautiful.

Why I want to consume "The Continuity Girl: A Novel" — 2 years ago

I bought this book last year while on a road trip. It sat on my shelf all winter and now I want to stop procrastinating and read it!

A story about "Dosa" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Last night I went to a local english pub called KENNEDY’s in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood. Inside the pub there is an authentic Southern Indian restaurant that serves dosas among other South Indian specialities. So good! There are not really many Indian restraunts that serve Southern style; most are of the northern variety.

Why I recommend "Stompy Jones" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I discovered Stompy Jones when I began to learn how to Lindy Hop. The late 90’s retro revival is over thank goodness, so those left over are the real dancers. Luckliy I live in San Francisco so it is easy to find swing clubs and good bands as well as good instructors. I really enjoy going to the Tueday Night Jump at the Verdi Club and taking lessons with Hep Jen who is one of the best dance instructors. Stompy Jones is solid roots music, they are the real deal.
