Really cool documentry tv on PBS. The stories are always interesting and unique. Last night was about two turkish fashion designers, one a conservative muslim and the other totally the opposite, and they used the contrast between these two to explore Turkey’s contradictions and unusual position between Europe and the Middle East (economics, religion, politics, culture). It was really wild. Other episodes I’ve seen have been about the first women firefighters in NYC in the 80s, and call center workers in India in a town that is being slowly changed by the presence of the company. I find it really balanced and objective. Also check out POV on PBS, really neat biographies like Herge, Alan Lomax, and great documentaries on wider subjects.
i agree with everyone about how nasty coke blak is is – although my guy tried just mixing an espresso shot with diet coke and said it came out well… so maybe the concept deserves another look
