A story about "We Real Cool" — 4 years ago
i went to the city (SF) the other day..some ting about a block party that the Intersection for the Arts was hosting and me wanting to check out this dude’s poetry; a brother, the rev. tim taylor..part of B/GLAM which is Black Gay Letters and Arts Movement www.bglam.org, anyhow..turns out i got to the city a bit earlier than the event..and being social dysfunctional..i started to call on this brother..to see if he would smoke me out..just as i was dialing his number..i spied him crossing the street at 16th just coming from that funk”y wallgreens..anyhoot, i stood in this face..and we decided to hang for a bit..yeah..he smoked me out like righteously..and i was so tanked i could hardly get back to the streets; good thing i still had my dark shades on..otherwise..i proably would of been scarey to look at..anyhoot..i picked up the book from my friend..i’m kinda glad that happened..cause i had been wanting to read the ting..for a while..i went on the poetry reading..but was sort’a unimpressed with rev. t.taylor..but i sure dug cedric’s stuff..now..why i did i tell u all of this..black guys..we looked at each other..broke bread, and laughed..but some how..never really connected ..maybe its me..
