NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I have to give the writer(s) credit, they really went out of the way to make sure we knew the full Mary Shaw backstory. In the first 15 mins we see the main character’s wife killed and the flimsy Shaw(at the time) story moves the story back to his home town. Scary Yes and a very promising start. Then we spend the next not so scary hour and fifteen minutes getting filled in through clunky dialog about the entire story of Mary Shaw. The story is important to understand the last good half hour but boy did it take a long time to get there. Not really worth the wait in my opinion.

A question I have about "300" — 1 year ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Why the ridiculous voice over? Absolutely took away from what could have been a decent movie. Many points for visually stunning the audience but the voiceover in our theater was causing bursts of laughter because it was so damn persistent and innane. In a movie if your character shouts, you do not need a voice over saying “He shouted from the deepest depths of his soul.” That is what the acting is for, to show the depths of the character. Real Shame.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Nothing worse than a horror movie that telegraphs every coming event by building the music to a frenzy. That is a pg-13 horror movie that does the same thing. How many people in the theater said out loud. “Oh No you didn’t!” when the father hires a stranger who scared away the crows by shooting a gun moments before to move right in and work the farm with him. What was he thinking “Hey that starnger with nothing but a bedroll and a rifle really helped me out. I think I will offer to let him stay with me and my family on this isolated farm. Oh and maybe I will leave my teenage daughter alone with him.” I was thinking this movie sucks and I am so sorry I did not wait for the DVD.

A story about "Pulse (Unrated Widescreen Edition)" — 1 year ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

So the world ends and it is because we discovered super wide band. Of course the bands are already there and just figuring out how to read them should not be the …Oh hell it is not worth explaining this mildly disappointing end of the world flick. The widescreen unrated cut looks good on my HD but why sell it as unrated, nothing changed to make it anymmore than the pg-13 it was originally. The scares are standard and Kristin Bell, whom I love by the way, sleepwalks through this one showing a very limited range or at least not trying to stretch herself.

Sometimes even good efforts don't pan out. — 1 year ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

The movie is decently done considering it was obviously on a very shallow budget. I have seen worse but still it is hard to recommend a movie with lower quality acting and some very strange choices in character development. Still it was a good effort with transition shots and a thoughtful score.

Why I recommend "The Descent" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was in Cuernavaca Mexico on vacation and my daughter wanted to do anything not Mexican (14yrs old). Since she had been great about the trip and being taken to multiple museums we took her out for a night at the mall and a movie. She and my wife saw Memiors of a Giesha, while I chose this movie because the start time was about the same. Knew nothing about it and was so pleasantly surprised at the good structure in the writing and the director excellent execution of the script. The acting was okay and really only one character seemed a characture(sp?). Predicted the ending but that is nothing new and good writing will lead you there without being blatent about the ending. Really enjoyed how it played on my own fears of being trapped underground. Good use of dark and limited light. will probably own it some day.
