Paige Winterbourne is the leader the the American Coven of witches – at least in name. She is also guardian to Savannah, a young, very powerful witch whom the coven doesn’t like. When she gets caught in a custody battle over Savannah, she finds out just who her enemies are.

A decent addition to Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series – the characters were also in Armstrong’s Stolen. While the book is very readable and the story interesting, Armstrong tries to pack too much into the story and the reader becomes distracted.

Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes head to San Francisco to untangle the mystery of Russell’s family’s death 10 years prior. Good addition to the series.

Excellent addition to the series. Harry Potter and his cohorts Hermione and Ron are now young adults. Harry is also starting to take more responsibility – he is now the captain of the Griffindor Quiddich team – and is taking private “lessons” with Dumbledore to learn more about Lord Voldemort. I have enjoyed the fact that Rowling has aged the characters fairly realistically – they have problems, romances, etc. It was a shock to have a major character die – very sad – but at the same time it kind of had to happen.

I look forward to the final chapter. It sounds like we will see some different things in the next book.

Agent Pendergast, with the assistance of Lieutenant D’Agosta, must confront the most diabolical criminal of his career – his brother Diogenes. Good addition to the series, but I hate that it left you hanging for the next book.

Interesting take on the Wizard of Oz books. This ADULT book recounts the story of Elphaba, the green girl who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West – and who isn’t all that wicked. My only gripe is that there is a lot of “politics” in the book, which at times became tedious.

I debated between 3 and 4 stars for this. The first part of the book is excellent – it’s the story of Alexa Daley who lives in a walled city and discovers a way out, where she learns to talk to animals. She also discovers the bad secret of the city. The second half moves to QUICKLY tie up all loose ends. Overall, a good fantasy read.

Acheron sends Alexion, his destroyer, down to Mississipi to judge Dark Hunters who are going rogue. Alexion teams up with Dark Huntress Danger and finds happiness he hasn’t felt in thousands of years. But it can’t last, can it? Good addition to the Dark Hunter series. Fills in a lot of blanks when it comes to DH history.

In this sequel to the City of Ember, the Emberites have emerged from their underground city and must learn to live in the above world. The do this with the help, and animosity, of the People of Sparks. Good follow-up as well as a good morality play.

Decent addition to the Preston/Child oeuvre. This entry again stars Agent Pendergast. He is in Kansas where there is a sadistic serial killer on the loose.

Good regency historical romance featuring Ian, who is recently infected with The Companion (this novels version of the vampire ‘virus’) and Beth, who’s father has died, sending her back to England. Interesting premise. Look forward to the next book.
