Why I recommend "Waterworld" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This was that big movie that cost so much and supposedly sucked just as much. I never saw it in the theater despite really like Costner’s work upto that point. But upon the recommendations of 2 co-workers, I finally decided to see what it was all about. This was a great movie!!! Not high art or anything, but a really really enjoyable action picture. I can see how they spent so much money, the sets/boats are unreal. The main character’s vessel is just amazing and you can tell its pretty much all real and not CGI, which was really impressive. I thought the storyline and the concept of the whole movie was very interesting. And the young actress who plays the little girl is also grown up and fabulous as ‘Mac’ on ‘Veronica Mars.’ Dennis Hopper makes a great over the top bad guy. This is an action-adventure gem.

Met my non-existent expectations — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The only reason I wanted to see this movie was because Bradley Cooper was in it. He’s fabulous and deserves more fame and work than he’s currently got. Totally formulamatic, but I laughed along with the opening-weekend crowd. I thought the cast was well-suited for their rolls. A fun time.

A very Richard Donner film — 3 years ago

The end is very Richard Donner… it seems in contrast to the rest of the movie. I thought Bruce Willis was really excellent, but the Mos Deff character could’ve been dialed down about 3 notches.

A story about "The Colorado Kid (Hard Case Crime)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I consumed this title as an audiobook, which I have found a nice alternative way to consume some of Stephen King’s shorter works while on longer drives. The audio presentation of this one was well-done. I enjoyed this story. Or then again, it wasn’t really a story. ;)

Bad acting, obvious plot — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I know this is based on an epic tale that is in many culture’s lore, but this envisioning of it was horrid. It was like leftover footage from 10 other period pieces and James whatshisface’s acting was HORRIBLE. I wasn’t looking for much. I just wanted a couple hours of entertainment, but I didn’t even get that. Skip it!

Oscar winner? — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This won an Oscar? Ack. It was trite and obnoxious.

A story about "Graveyard Dust (Benjamin January, Book 3)" — 4 years ago

Mystery series set in NOLA in the 1830’s. I want to find the first book and give them a try.

A story about "A Short History of Nearly Everything" — 5 years ago

This book is so well-written, both engaging and extremely educational, it could be used in high schools to supplement actual textbooks and excite students about the history of science and the natural world. Bill Bryson has reached a new level with his writing.

A story about "Big Cherry Holler (Ballantine Reader's Circle)" — 5 years ago

Even better than the first novel in this series. One of the few books I’ve ever read where I actually identify with the main character.

A story about "The Right Address" — 5 years ago

A fun glimpse into high society and all the D-rama that it allows.
