A story about "The Secret Garden" — 3 years ago

I picked up this book, becuase it was thicker than all the others. I fell in love with the story, the magic of discovering the garden, the charity of renewing it. I know so few people who have read this. Which makes me sad. Everyone should read this book. It reminds us about what is wonderful in life.

I still find it odd — 3 years ago

that they would let you read a book like this in school. It is so dark, and obviously full of adult themes. Still, I’m glad they did. It is unlike any other story I have read. It’s very interesting, even exciting. But the end will leave you thinking, or at least, it should.

Entertainment Value — 3 years ago

I wouldn’t call this book a literary great, but it is an enjoyable read, full of action and a little humor. The writing style is dated, and can feel somewhat awkward at times, but the story is strong, and is the real classic (over the actual writing itself).

A must read, before LOTR — 3 years ago

This book is much lighter, both in writing style and subject matter, than the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It’s a good introduction to that series I believe, because it provides more of a background, and helps make the begining (what my husband calls the boring part) of LOTR more lively and entertaining. It’s also good as a stand alone book.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is the first of the books where I really started to think what a great writer J. K. is. The story is very well put together, the characters become full fledged people, and even I felt a sense of wonder at what Harry can do.

as strong as the first — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

the story is a little deeper than the first book, though the writing style is still light and easy. a fun, easy, and quick read, that can engage any reader with a sense of humor, or an interest in a good little mystery.

WORTH CONSUMING!

A strong story, for adults and children alike. The writing style is easy and fun, with enough of a twist to keep people guessing, or at least uncertain, or the end. a good read.

WORTH CONSUMING!

If this is ever a choice on a summer reading list, pick it. Rarely are classics so cool.

Not exaclty timeless — 3 years ago

It has the slow, somewhat awkward pacing that was popular during this time in literature, which can make it difficult for a reader more accustomed to modern novels. But the story is strange and interesting, sad, but honest. Worth reading if you love to read.
