A story about "Black Book (Zwartboek)" — 16 hours ago

Zwartboek is definitely an interesting movie, although I couldn’t finish this, at least not last night. It is so sad and tragic. At the same time, this movie would be worth watching for anyone interested in WWII, espionage, etc. Caveat: the film is very graphic in parts, both sexually (full nudity) and violently (torture).

More calories than ice cream — 3 weeks ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

A bottle of this has 260 calories, more than an ice cream bar

Why I recommend "Ramune Soda" — 5 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The soda is like a less sweet version of Sprite. But the best part of Ramune is the bottle. The packaging is this weird shape that has a marble in the bottleneck. The marble moves when you pour out the drink. I was told that you are supposed to try and catch the marble in the grooves of the bottle while filling your glass.

A story about "Garlic And Sapphires - Secret Life Of A Critic In Disguise" — 5 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The current editor of Gourmet magazine wrote this memoir about her stint as a restaurant critic for the New York Times. Due to the competitiveness of the New York City restaurant scene, she was forced to wear disguises in order to hide her identity as a woman with a big say as to where people in the Big Apple eat. It was amazing how a change in her physical appearance changed her attitude and demeanor. This phenomenon reminded me of the saying, “Clothes make the man”. One thing that I didn’t like about the book: In one chapter, the author details—almost with gusto—her nasty demeanor towards a waiter. These actions on her part left me with an unpleasant taste in my mouth, since I believe that mistreating service workers is unacceptable. But, aside from this, the book was interesting, and one can definitely notice her love and appreciation for food.

A story about "Learning to Look at Modern Art" — 5 weeks ago

I thought that this book was kind of a slow read, but it gave me an insight as to what people do internally when they stare at a picture in a museum for half an hour.

A story about "Gandhi My Father" — 5 weeks ago

This movie, based on actual events, definitely shows a more human side of Gandhi in terms of his relationship with his son Harilal. Indeed, the story portrays Mahatma Gandhi as almost a villain in the first part of the film. The ending is sad, so be warned if you decide to watch and if you enjoy a happy ending. If anything, this film will give you a more balanced view of the father of India.

A question I have about "Chan" — 11 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

What kind of fruit is in this drink? The waitress said that it was strawberry and some other kind of fruit, but I don’t remember the name of the other fruit. I think that it is a fruit that is not commonly found in the U.S. The other fruit is like an inside of a grape, the gooey part with the seed.

A story about "Om Shanti Om (2-disc Collector`s Edition)" — 11 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The first half was just ok. I considered turning it off because it was really corny. But I’m glad that I kept watching it, because the second half had me hooked. The last half hour of the movie had me at the edge of my seat.
