I love Angela Carter, have done for years. Just after reading this book I noticed Angela Carter was coming to speak about her writing at a nearby university. I went along and had a wonderful evening and was lucky enough to meet her afterwards and talk to her about her work. She was a great person and I was so sad when not long after meeting her I heard she’d died.

I really enjoyed this book. Partly i think because it’s very different in its approach and partly because I used to live in Cambridge where the book ios set and I could clearly picture a lot of the places the author was referring to. It’s very funny in places, shocking and quite dark. I thought about it a long time afterwards
