A story about "The Vendor of Sweets (Penguin Twentieth-Century Classics)"

The Vendor of Sweets (Penguin Twentieth-Century Classics)

by R. K. Narayan

The story is based on the life of a sweetmeat shop owner during the British era. Being an Indian i could relate it to the life and culture of the then South India… The story is a struggle of the man with himself and other events that keep happening in his life. RK Narayan has brilliantly brought out the conflict of a man with himself, especially when one feels lonely…

Why I recommend "Shantaram"

Shantaram

by Gregory David Roberts

Apart from the gripping story, its the philosophy that amazed me. The way Gregory has gone deep into the heart, mind and soul of every person whom he’s met in his amazing journey demonstrates his ability to gauge people and he even admits the mistakes he’s done in this process… The candid account of his life in India and the people he’s lived and worked with, is soul wrenching! All you have to do is read the first few pages and then the book will itself take you on a wonderful and thrilling journey. This is also one of the few books that has great humor along with the seriousness… This book has got pace. I highly recommend this book and suggest people to read this before the movie is made.

Good for a light reading.

A review of "Siddhartha"

Hermann’s depth of spiritual knowledge of the east way back in the first quarter of the bygone century is astounding. Worth a read. He’s ventured deeply into human emotional territories and a man’s spiritual crisis within himself.
