A story about "Murder On The Flying Scotsman (Daisy Dalrymple Mysteries (Paperback))" — 6 years ago

I really wanted to like this book. It’s the third in the series that I’ve read. Daisy is a likeable character but I feel like they don’t give her enough to do. I love British murder mysteries, but something about this series just doesn’t cut it for me.

A story about "The Last Boy" — 6 years ago

I’m having a hard time with this one. Not because it’s not good, but because it’s about a little boy who’s missing, and the more I read the more I want to cry.

A story about "Invisible Eden: A Story of Love and Murder on Cape Cod" — 6 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I had to stop reading this one. I don’t like the writer’s style—-she takes two pages to say what could be said in two paragraphs (or sometimes, two sentences). I understand she’s trying to put some local color into the book but the way she did it, incorporating herself into the story, annoyed me. This in itself would have been enough to keep me from reading the rest, but after reading the scene where the woman’s body was found with her toddler daughter attempting to nurse, I did not want to finish the book.

A story about "The Mammoth Cheese" — 6 years ago

Eleven babies born all at once?! And I think I have a crush on Polly’s history teacher . . . though, after finishing it, I should not have had a crush on him. I can see why she did, though. And I can totally see this as a feature film. A nice novel about life in small-town America.

A story about "Big Book of Knitting" — 6 years ago

I picked this up the other day at JoAnn’s—I’m reading up on finishing techniques, different methods for casting on, etc., hoping to improve my knitting.

A story about "Mr. Maybe: A Novel" — 6 years ago

I enjoyed Green’s other books, hopefully this one will be good, too . . . well, not so much in the end. Pretty predictable but an ok read nonetheless.

A story about "The Wrong Man: The Final Verdict on the Dr. Sam Sheppard Murder Case (Ohio)" — 6 years ago

Fascinating stuff about the trial of the century (pre-OJ). I’m especially amazed at the way the local Cleveland newspapers controlled the coroner’s office and the direction of the entire investigation.

An excellent book for anyone interested in true crime, local Cleveland history, or CSI-like techniques.

A story about "The Cape Cod House" — 6 years ago

Great photos of Capes and excellent explanations of what makes a true Cape Cod home. Only wish the photos were in color, but many of them pre-date color photography.

A story about "Bella Tuscany: The Sweet Life in Italy" — 6 years ago

I haven’t read “Under the Tuscan Sun” yet, nor have I seen the movie, but so far I’m enjoying the descriptions of life in Italy . . . a marvelous look at what it’s like to live in Italy. The food chapters made my ravenous!
