A review of "Daft Punk's Electroma" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Electroma was far different from your average big-budget crap American film with choppy sequences, poor writing, and CGI – it was a welcome relief if just to watch long shots and try to interpret what was going on, which was not too difficult.

I liked it. I didn’t feel disturbed or overstimulated or depressed or pissed off.

he’s too grumpy. I

felt grumpy reading it.

I gave up half-way through

the first story.

Grisly and depressing — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Well written in a Faulkner-prose style and a definate

page turner. I enjoy post-fallen world stuff usually

but this was just grim through and through.

There were no apostrophes in the contractions

and for some reason that drove me nuts.

…and there were a lot of contractions.

mellow contemporary jazz.

Botti is a horn maestro.

Play this for your lady,

she’ll thank you in pleasant

ways.

Or, listen to it in traffic.

We can all use a little slow

How "Everyone Poops (My Body Science Series)" changed my life — 5 years ago

I had forgotten how

all that internal plumbing

worked.

Also, it was refreshing to

remember that other animals

poop, too.

A story about "The Complete Poems: Anne Sexton" — 5 years ago

Really on time.

Anne was a hotty. Desirable. Brilliant.

Troubled – yea, nuts.

But, oh, what a gem

like mind. So evocative

I had tears in my eyes.

The most beautiful poetry

I’ve read in months.

A story about "Rainbows End" — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I enjoyed the concept of YGBM

(you’ve gotta believe me) the

use of semantic control by remote

triggering: is this not happening

already and has been for that matter

to a lesser degree?

Look around you with care.

Do you really need an SUV when

gas prices soar and a fuel-efficient

minivan would suffice?

The novel makes you think about what’s

going on behind what’s going on.

A story about "Counting Heads" — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Marusek started this as a vignette; it reads thus. The vignette part (beginning) is abso brilliant. The story mires later, but this book was the second-best SF book I’ve read so far this year. Vernor Vinge’s Rainbow’s End being the first.

Why I like people who have consumed "Dark Whole Hazelnut" — 5 years ago
