Every American student should have this as part of American History courses. It is a true captivity narrative from the 18th century written from the journals of James Smith. It is one of the most important unknown publications in our history.

It’s hard to tell how much of the advice is relevant in 2005. It doesn’t hurt to have a conservative, traditional look if you are doing business, but things can change. Still, most of the advice is excellent for the stated purpose: using clothing (and your environment) as a tool to increase your income and prestige.

If you have the slightest interest in botany, this is the book to read. An incredible overview that allows its readers to benefit from the author’s experience.
