one caveat — 20 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

this book is full of vital descriptions about shady corporate practices, and encourages teens to seek out more information in order to buy responsibly. however, the “cool” conversational tone of the writing and the shocking sidebars are likely to be seen as too radically leftist.

A review of "Never Let Me Go" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

some really pertinent details of this book were cut or changed for the movie. i really enjoyed the film but can’t help but think the title lost its significance due to the changes. unfortunate.

A review of "The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place: Book I: The Mysterious Howling" — 1 year ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

the illustrations are delightful but the story? not so much. the “mysterious howling” of the title doesn’t show up until the final chapter and the mystery is left entirely unsolved. the main character has little personality and might as well be 50 years old, although she is actually 15. the children’s education is baffling: they can hardly speak english yet recite poetry and teach themselves to play chess. there is a lot of humour in the wolfspeak, but it is probably best appreciated by a very young child, who would not understand the rest of the victorian english. i have no desire to read the next installment in this series.
