this book begins with the attempted suicide of a young woman named alice. while alice is in a coma the author traces back through her life with short excerpts leading up to what made her do it. this style of storytelling is very different and makes reading more interesting and invovled.

this makes me look smart, right? heh. i am reading this for my “history of aesthetics” course. so far i’ve only read the plato, but i think it will take me about 5 reads to understand anything at all in this book. hrmph!

cute, though maybe a bit too fluffy. typical red dress ink book. good for a quick read while travelling, on the beach, or just vegging out at home.

required reading for “the age of augustus”, though something i would be interested in myself.

must read during spring break…

i am not as lucky as becky bloomwood, because i still haven’t found an investment banker to share a join bank account with. this would make the whole shopping problem a bit easier i think.
