A story about "Shopaholic Takes Manhattan" — 5 years ago

My sister bought Confessions of a Shopaholic and I read it in one sitting while I was there. Of course I had to run out and get the sequel almost immediately. Being that I can relate to the subject of this book it opened my eyes to a few things, like the fact that shopping is a serious addiction that you have to cover up and lie about just like any other, heh. very humorous, though obviously unrealistic as well. If only my life would turn out like Becky’s…

A story about "The Bell Jar" — 5 years ago

I was always told to stay away from this book when I was in high school by my teachers, because they thought it would be too difficult to understand. I wish I would have never listened to them and read this book a bit sooner, because I understood it all too well.

A story about "Bee Season: A Novel" — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is probably one of the best recently written novels I have read. It combines the topics of Jewish mysticism, dysfunctional families, and childhood genius to form a compelling read with a suprising ending.

A story about "The Forgotten Bottom Remembered: Stories from a Philadelphia Neighborhood" — 5 years ago

I also have to read this for a class I am taking. It is basically a book full of interviews given to residents of this neighborhood in Philadelphia which is dubbed “Forgotten Bottom.” One of the things I love about Philadelphia is how it is a city of neighborhoods. I love learning about the different neighborhoods and hearing personal accounts of people’s lives. I am enjoying this book a lot.

A story about "Philadelphia: Neighborhoods, Division, and Conflict in a Postindustrial City (Comparative American Cities)" — 5 years ago

I have to read this for a class I am taking. It is a ton of facts and figures and not much more, therefore it is very hard to read. I wouldn’t suggest it to anyone unless they were very interested in the logistics of urban studies.

A story about "A Short Guide to Writing About Art (6th Edition)" — 5 years ago

I thought this would be a good thing to read to give me ideas on how to improve my art history papers. So far it has given me quite a few. The chapter on analysis was great. I’d recommend this book to any aspiring art history majors or anyone taking an upper-level art history course.

A story about "The Object Stares Back: On the Nature of Seeing" — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is a fascinating book about how we humans see various things. I picked this up because I am an art history major and it was of interest of me for that reason. However, I think this would probably be an interesting read regardless because most of us probably look at things daily without even thinking about the psychology of it.

A story about "Livia: First Lady of Imperial Rome" — 5 years ago

well, i didn’t start this yet, but i am looking forward to reading it over the break. these next 4 weeks are the only ones i am going to have free to read until may so i might as well try to fit as much in as possible. livia was a fascinating character and i am becoming more and more interesting in roman classics. that, and the temple library had it so i figured why not check it out. mmm…free reading! if only the had the gladiator book i am dying to read.

A story about "Burning The Map" — 5 years ago

a book about three 20-something girls traveling to rome and greece, how could i resist? so far it is definitely a page turner, though a very quick and light read. would probably make an excellent beach or vacation read.
