This one was too slow for me this time round. I’m hoping for a second attempt, because the subject matter is well worth the effort.
Didn’t seem any good when I started it, but it sort of grew on me. Not nearly the author’s best work, though.
If you’re a game designer, you really don’t need a review of this book any more than a Christian needs a review of the Bible. Seriously.
I just owned up to the fact that this work isn’t something you just sit down and read, any more than our culture continuously points out that the Bible is. Having gotten through the summary, I’ll happily consign it to my bookshelf, deriving as much comfort from having it available should I require it as any Christian would from that other religious book I mentioned.
Grimwood is still hugely entertaining, but this novel doesn’t quite reach up to the standard of the previous two in the series.
While this book won’t provide any startling new insights to those already familiar with the subject matter, it is still noticeably well written and laid out, and is no doubt of immense value to the Qt novice.
My reading of this book seems to have stalled, probably because of the continuous influx of new and exciting books. I’m sure I’ll return to it after a while, though, because it’s a fascinating, if admittedly not thoroughly captivating, read.
Classic MacLeod fare – alien abductions and radical politics. My only gripe is that there’s less than 100 pages of it this time.
Although the Singularity topic is swiftly becoming overused, MacLeod carries off another brilliant SF novel. Not nearly as political as his previous works, but still highly entertaining.
