A French period melodrama (1964), it is based on the first part of a French historical romance Angelique series. She is betrothed at 17 to Joffrey de Peyrac, the 12 years older rich but cripple Comte de (count of) Peyrac de Morens and seigneur (Lord) of Toulouse, for the sake of her family, Angélique reluctantly agrees to the match. As Angelique gradually discovers his other remarkable talents as scientist, musician and philosopher, she falls passionately in love with him. But court intrigue threatened their marriage as her husband was arrested on trumped up charges. Her beauty make her the target of various courtiers. Nice show. Good and refreshing acting especially by the actress Keisha Castle-Hughes playing Mary. This show has dramatic elements that may translate better to a stage. On the whole it has a fresh look and warm humanistic touch at a old story.

A good horror movie from Philipine starring two of their hottest actresses Kris Aquino-Yap and Claudine Baretto-Santiago in Tagalog with English subtitles.
