NOT WORTH CONSUMING

It was Sunday and there was nothing to do. A lazy Sunday, how awful. And for some God forsaken reason, Waiting was the movie playing on Comedy Central. Ugh.

I thought I’d seen the end of this movie after being suckered into seeing it for free on promotion. I wish I had been right.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I did not know Erik Petersen, nor his band Mischief Brew, until I randomly saw him play in Hoboken, New Jersey on March 6, 2008. To say the least, it was an interesting show with Nanuchka.

I spent the next few days desperately trying to find this album for download. eMusic didn’t have it, plus I’d use my meager monies on the two Mischief Brew albums. Well, I finally found it two days later for cheap and have been happily listening to it since. It’s been especially weird listening to this album while visiting my hometown, which has only recently fallen to corporatism.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Three days after incredible heartbreak, I forced myself to get to FAO Schwarz in the rain. I wandered through the shelves upon shelves of teddy bears and other stuffed animals. And then one of Gund’s bears lept out at me. Its arms were too long, it was really fat, it had a tiny head and huge nose. Best of all, the one I picked up’s ears weren’t sewn on straight. They were lopsided. I fell in love.

He’s the dopiest bear of all time. I’ve named him Benedict Arnold. He may betray his country, his people, and his revolution, but baby, he’ll never betray me.

First ate these with my sister in Chicago. Nothing like little ice cream nuggets to ease a broken heart.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I hadn’t heard of this book until the film script landed on my desk. The script peaked my interest so I checked the book out from the library.

It was a pretty quick read. Took me maybe three or four hours to read total. Finished reading it on the BNSF Line to Chicago while visiting my sister. Pretty neat seeing what the script changed and added, which ended up being a lot.

I liked it though. The first person plural narrative was a refreshing change. Kept me distracted long enough to not think about the horrible break up I just went through.
