blurb on the cover says, “A new breed of crime novel”. brings me back to the days of macgruff the crime dog. there’s a character in the book that was even named macfluff. although a cat and not an honest one at that, i’m sure once he did, “take a bit out of crime”.

this book was just silly. sometimes annoyingly so. i am not familiar with the untouchables besides knowing it is a movie. someone has been transforming feral cats into dog killing machines at the sound of a bell. one is a prize fighter, the other did not fair so well and is on the lose. dog and cat team up to bring the feline to justice. lots of spoofs, kane even pokes fun of his own book which i felt was noteworthy. i like an author who doesn’t take himself too seriously.

finished, a tad late, as usual. i still am in agreement with my previous entry. it’s an ok book. parts were tedious, parts were semi exciting, and parts were just there. i found myself liking the character of; i can’t even remember her name besides mrs. lang, adam’s wife, never a good sign. either way wasn’t my favorite book club selection, but it was far from the worst. storyline picks up when the ghost writer decides to go investigate how all the pieces fit together. the atmosphere of the book i thought was well done. i felt like i was in martha’s vineyard during the winter. had a cold, blah vibe that was picked up throughout.

good message. sometimes the humor seemed forced, but overall worth it.

this is our october’s book club book. so far it’s an ok book. it reads well and is semi interesting, yet i can’t bring myself to really like it. we’ll see how it turns out.

i completely agree with calypte’s review. not a heavy hitter. absolute fluff but sometimes that’s all you want. a 90 min break from reality. this did the job.

the blister part made me laugh out loud for minutes.

group of strangers all with special skills retrace stanley’s steps to find livingstone. i started watching this half way through. made me ponder if i could survive in africa.
