A review of "Eat Me: delicious, desirable, successful food packaging design" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Loads of pics, little text…

Eat Me showcases the most delectable international food packaging graphic design: from designer lines such as Phillipe Sarck’s bottel watter to the pop kitsch of Japanese sweet wrappers, and from super-branded icons to in house lines and own brands.

Next is Back — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The 2nd in the Thursday Next series, Lost in a Good Book continues Thursday’s one-woman battle against the evil Goliath Corporation. Most of the characters from the 1st book (The Eyre Affair) return as well such as her time-travelling father, with the addition of new ones like Ms Havesham from Great Expectations. A hilarious romp through literature and time, a must read.

Not so Dreamy Mystery — 3 years ago

First the plot: Isabel Wright, the most brilliant level-five lucid dream analyst at the Center for Sleep Research, was shocked when they fired her. She decodes the fine line between dreams and reality with three anonymous clients, including Ellis who calls her “Tango Dancer.” Wright refers to him as “Dream Man.” Isabel’s former co-workers at the Belvedere Center and Ellis’s colleagues from his secret government agency provide a rich assortment of suspects and victims who must be sorted out by the lover-detectives as they wrestle good guys from the dark side, repair troubled marriages and fix ailing businesses. A typical JAK romance with passion, betrayal and murder.

In general, I love JAK’s books, however, this time the idea of lucid dream and dream interpretation doesnt gel with me. It seems a little out there. Fortunately, the 2 leads make for a fun read.

Too Wordy to be Stylish — 3 years ago

Although the bk had loads of good tips, I found it to be a little too wordy to make it a handy book.

A story about "Book of Giants" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Read this and the entire series by Ruth Manning-Sanders when I was very young. Loved the drawings and the folktales. Unfortunately, most of the books are no longer available at the public libraries or local bkstores, so may hve to go online to purchase them.

A story about "Chaal Baaz" — 3 years ago

This 1989 movie stars Sridevi (double role), Sunny Deol and Rajnikant. The story is about twin sisters separated at birth and brought up by different people. One sister is brought up in a rich household by a tyrannical couple and grows up timid and shy, while the other is brought up by a poor but loving woman and grows up to be a brash tomboy. Fate brings the two sisters together and together they unravel the plot to upsurp their inheritance. A fun frolic and love the music too. I remember watching this as a kid and even then found the movie very entertaining. Watching it now, it’s fun to see the big hair, colourful over-the-top clothes of the 80s’.
