Why I recommend "The Book Thief" — 7 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I found this book hard to put down. It was beautifully written and very emotive. I shed a few tears whilst reading it. I would have to say that it’s one of the best books that I have read in a while…

A story about "Essential Leonard Cohen" — 14 weeks ago

We all know the jokes about Leonard Cohen don’t we? You know, with every cd you get a free bottle of pills and a pack of razor blades ;) Personally I like his stuff and don’t really find it depressing, more emotive and deep in my eyes, though saying that I can understand why others might. It has to be said that he is a beautiful poet and that cannot be got away from… Jolly, jolly ;)

A story about "The Canterbury Tales (2003) (The Miller's Tale / The Wife of Bath / The Sea Captain's Tale / The Man of Law's Tale) [ NON-USA FORMAT, PAL, Reg.2 Import - Great Britain ]" — 16 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I liked these tales a lot. Chaucer’s tales put into a modern context are an extremely attractive package. I read some of the Canterbury tales whilst at uni and found that Chaucer was a very cheeky and quite political writer for his time. I like adaptations that are brought up to date as they are made accessible to a modern audience and it helps to stop all the elitism that goes on in the acedemic world. Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet had a similar effect. I know so many young people who enjoyed this because they could understand and relate to it and they would never have attempted to look at Shakepeare’s original works in any other form… So it’s all good stuff in my eyes :)
