A story about "The Space Between Us: A Novel (P.S.)" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

A tender and tragic tale of two Indian women and the cultural and caste differences between them. With deft subtlety, Umrigar captures the inner workings of the women’s thoughts and feelings as they navigate their lives. Heart-wrenching, with some shocking plot developments. I discovered this author when reading an interview with Canadian author Carol Shields, who said Thrity Umrigar was one of her favourite authors. Now, she is also one of mine.

A review of "The White Masai" — 2 years ago

A German business woman goes on vacation to Kenya, meets a Masai warrior, and falls in love with him despite the fact that they can’t communicate at all. She marries him, moves into his mud hut, and (surprise!) they don’t live happily ever after. The White Masai is unbelievable (how could she think this would ever work?!?), but it’s also completely impossible to put down.

A review of "Pride and Prejudice (Special Edition)" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Simply the best of the Pride & Prejudice adaptations, this is one that sent a generation of British ladies swooning. The acting from Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle as well as the supporting cast in spot on. Light, romantic, funny, this period piece is perfect for romantic comedy lovers looking for something different.

A review of "Morehouse Farm Merino Knits: More than 40 Farm-Fresh Designs" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Morehouse Farms make such beautiful yarns. This book is beautifully photographed, and better than the patterns is all the information it provides about different kinds of wool. For any knitter or fibre artist who wants a deeper understanding of wool - where it comes from and how it works - this book is a must.

A review of "Never Knit Your Man a Sweater (Unless You've Got the Ring)" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

For every knitter who fears the “Sweater Curse,” this book provides many handsome patterns that you can knit for the man in your life, without the commitment of making a (potentially unlucky) sweater.

Guy knitters will be happy to see a collection of masculine patterns that they can make for themselves.
