An odd but enjoyable story of a group of societal misfits who are effectively hiding out in a remote desolated part of the country. The encovering of each character, the central mystery and the overall mesh of the group is very well done.

I loved this book, it’s such an interesting read (and well researched for the factual parts from what I can tell) about the survival methods of people of the clan. It’s a little bit stretched at points, but I love the detail and the energy with which everything is described.

Wonderful story with such a depth of feeling and grace. Tells a tale of the draining of the soul of a community and the hope that can be offered by a few brave souls. Looking forward to reading the next one.

I really didn’t like this—a friend loaned it to me and I was very disappointed, thought it was very smug and self-satisfied and overly dependant of it’s own self-important. Maybe I just wasn’t intelligent enough to ‘get it’ but I disliked it intensely.
