Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End (Widescreen Edition)

Words cannot fully describe my hatred for this movie. It’s absolute garbage, and one of the worst films I have ever seen.

It’s excessively long. The story makes literally zero sense. Characters have baffling behavior.

Yes, the effects are fantastic and the acting is good. But it’s all flash and no meaning – the plot and the movie as a whole are terrible.

28 Weeks Later

I have to admit: I am a giant sucker for a good zombie flick. Also, I love movies about the apocalypse.

However, this is among the best zombie-themed movies I’ve ever seen. It’s not better than it’s predecessor, 28 Days Later, and does reuse the awesome music. Both are really from the same formula, and if you like the first, the second won’t disappoint.

The camera in the action sections will zoom in really close to the action which adds to the chaotic and claustrophobic feel. The zombies (referred to as “the infected”) are absolutely frightening. These aren’t George Romero’s slow, lumbering zombies that seem somewhat comical victims themselves. These guys have RAGE and will go into a full dead sprint after any potential victim, then tear you apart bare-handed.

Yeah, there’s no real progress to the overall storyline: there’s no cure found and they set it up for another sequel. However, this is movie is still very entertaining taken on it’s own.

Doesn’t smell like cinnamon rolls, but does taste great. Definitely worth consuming.

This movie is a gigantic downer. Some of the parts are laugh-out-loud funny. But other parts, that were obviously meant to be funny, missed completely. I felt embarrased by how bad some of the jokes missed.

I did think this movie was alright, but not spectacular. It’s very predictable, and not anywhere near as good as The Prestige.

Brazil - The Criterion Collection (3-Disc Boxed Set)

This movie is just plain weird, with the main character always dreaming that he’s pursuing a woman. It’s totally fantastical with him flying around looking like an angel and fighting a huge samurai-looking bad guy. Robert Deniro makes an appearance, but it’s only in a bit part.

The beginning has a man named Buttle being mistaken for a wanted man named Tuttle. Because of a paperwork snafu, he winds up being “deleted” – they allude that he was tortured and executed. This is eerily reminisent of the feeling today, where at the airport they have the “Do Not Fly” list which is based totally on supposed terrorist names.

The movie has some very funny parts, like how you need a form filled out, signed, and stamped before anything can happen. Bureaucratic process is definitely taken to it’s satiric exaggerated height.

There were some places where the drama was very strong. The part with the lady screaming “where is my husband’s body?” is absolutely haunting. That image will be stuck in my head for a long time.

I definitely didn’t like the blatant rip-off of situations from 1984, which is also about a dystopian future, and one of my favorite books of all time. For instance: the main character working for the evil government; him falling in love and then getting arrested (sorry for the spoiler); his subsequent interrogation.

Overall, I just didn’t find it all that entertaining. I would take a pass on this if I had a “do over.”

Seattle's Best Coffee - Cinnabon (ground)

I bought this at the store cause of the name. I feel kind of misled by the name, cause it does NOT actually smell like Cinnabon baked cinnamon rolls! What a gyp.

Unfortunately, it tastes just like any other coffee, and is definitely not on par with “premium” brands. Jury is still out on this one, since I just bought it yesterday.

World Market - Chocolate Peppermint Stick (ground)

It’s a great coffee to make around the holidays. The smell is spectacular, and totally matches the name – Peppermint Chocolate.

Very smooth coffee that tastes great.

I wasn’t able to find this product on worldmarket.com, so I think it may just be seasonal.
