A story about "Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers" — 6 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Some observations in this book are just brilliant. Though I feel that by reading this book I’m allowing myself to be clumped into the group of people that likes to read about cadavers, I can’t help but enjoy it. Most memorable moment so far is when the author meets a lady at a head-dissection seminar who prepared the heads and she (the author) can’t help repeating to herself: You cut off heads. You cut off heads. You cut off heads.

A story about "The Ultimate Palm Robot (Consumer)" — 6 years ago

The kit, it turns out, is a little expensive, but it just looks so exciting that I may not be able to resist.

A story about "Built to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies (Harper Business Essentials)" — 6 years ago

This book has been referred to me by no less than four people in the last couple months… so I thought I’d give it a try. First impressions: looks like a pretty thorough study, but I can’t help but wonder if it’s really scientific. The author goes out of his way to explain the method, but never addresses the possibility that the difference between good and great companies is insignificant. That there is no real difference. That greatness is a result of chance.

A story about "The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress" — 6 years ago

Nice quick read… interesting ending (though a little unbelievable).

A story about "The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress" — 6 years ago

My first sci-fi novel in a long time, it’s pretty interesting though.

A story about "Sources of Power: How People Make Decisions" — 6 years ago

A whole book dedicated to my most favorite of topics: decision making. Already, I’ve learned the difference between naturalistic and rational decision making—the former being the one we actually put into practice most of the time, the latter being how people may hope they make decisions, even though it’s not very efficient.

A story about "Genius: The Life and Science of Richard Feynman" — 6 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Bought this book for the plane and so far love it. I get to learn about some of the murky backwaters of quantum mechanics without getting all confused since all of that is sprinkled across the easier to follow life story of Richard Feynman.

A story about "Fooled by Randomness: The Hidden Role of Chance in the Markets and in Life, First Edition" — 6 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book explains exactly why felt so skeptical when reading “Built To Last”. It’s survivorship bias, one of many interesting ideas that Nassim explains well in this book.

A story about "The Innovator's Dilemma: The Revolutionary Book that Will Change the Way You Do Business (Collins Business Essentials)" — 6 years ago

Jim bought this for me off my wishlist. Thanks Jim! So far, it looks a lot more promising than that silly “Built to Last” piece o’ junk.

A story about "The Great Game: The Emergence of Wall Street as a World Power: 1653-2000" — 6 years ago

The history of wall street is more exciting than almost any fiction I’ve ever read. This book (so far) has done an excellent job retelling the stories of the famous players on the street. You see how businesses, industries, and countries were built from scratch due to the ability for people to speculate about their future using investments.
