A story about "Gilmore Girls - The Complete Fifth Season" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I got this for Easter, and I swore I wouldn’t watch it until the semester ends. Since this is now on my consumed list that obviously didn’t happen. The show is addictive though, and I couldn’t stay away. The fifth season brought me many happy moments of procrastination over the last few days. I now find myself expectanly waiting for the sixth season to come out on dvd. Yes, they’re showing them on television right now, but it’s lots fun to watch them all together and commercial free.

A review of "The Stranger (Everyman's Library (Cloth))" — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I’m taking a class on European modernims this semester. I’ve read a lot of dark depressing books, plays, and poetry which I thought were great, Waiting for Godot for example. The Stranger, however, is my least favorite piece for the semester. It seems so hopeless (which yes, is part of the point of the book), and the narrator was so distanced from the reader. Maybe I don’t like hopelessness and narrative distance all in the same work. Maybe existentialism isn’t my thing, who knows. What I do know, is that I didn’t particularly care for The Stranger.

A review of "Christopher Unborn" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It’s nice to read a novel that’s not like anything else you’ve read. It’s not a story of the young unborn Christopher, it’s the story of Mexico, and using the unborn Christopher as a narrator provides Fuentes with the perfect narrative vehicle to convey Mexico’s story. This book makes you work for satisfaction—it’s not a fast easy read, but when you get to the end it’s totally worth it.

A story about "Waiting for Godot: A Tragicomedy in Two Acts" — 3 years ago

I’m not sure yet if I liked or not. It was definitely funny in places and I thought that the tragic elements were appropriate. As a play, it really works. I think my head is jumbled up with thoughts of existentialism and absurdist theatre, and I just need a little more time to sort it all out. The play gives you a lot to think about after all.

A review of "The Cutting Edge - Going for the Gold" — 3 years ago

It’s super cheesy in a wholesome abc family tv movie sort of way, but at the same time sort of satisfiying to watch. Not as good as the original Cutting Edge though, but I kind of expected that.

A story about "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Widescreen Edition) (Harry Potter 4)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The first time I saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, I was disappointed because it departed from the book so much. However, having seen the film again recently, I’m forced to admit that the Harry Potter films stand on their own. Truth be told, I wasn’t a Harry Potter fan until I saw the first movie. I went out the next day and bought the first three books, and I had them read within a week. So I guess if the Harry Potter films had never been made, I would never have been a fan, and that would be sad.

Why I recommend "Lloyd C. Douglas' Magnificent Obsession" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This movie piles on the romance, and I’m such a sucker for it. It was great. He changes his spoiled ways and then dedicates his life and soul to her. This may sound a little trite, but they just don’t make movies like this now, nor have they in at least my lifetime.

A story about "Coca-Cola Classic" — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I hadn’t had a Coke in two years. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done to give it up. Went to Wendy’s yesterday, and they gave it to me by mistake. So I thought I’d drink it, and see if I was still addicted. I don’t think I am. It tasted weird. Oh well, I still have my memories on how good it tasted before I gave it up.
