sweet and masterfully done.
nice compilation of vintage eightball. it has some of the funniests strips like “art school confidential”, “i hate you deeply” and “i love you tenderly”. it would make a fun introduction to daniel clowes. the cover is great, it plays with the isbn in a comic book panel. this dude is a great illustrator.
quick and midly violent. it is a surprise that the story had some moral view to it.
informative. and a fun read. too much attention to the figure of varg vikernes. it’s difficult to avoid the expositive journalism tones. well, at least they are not out to “defend” black metal. the connections to mythology are good. black metalers as the oskorei. love for fire as a sort of archetipal concept. it works. it certainly makes you aware of the fascist sides of the scene.
The story has a real mexican weight to it. Ciudad de Mexico is well depicted and the darkness and stupidity of it all. It is also sensitive, very, in that autobiographical way certain comic books allow. The spanglish works well. Drawings are great. Fast and simple and effective.
art spiegelman gets academic. praise to the old masters. in the genera of “this didn’t receive enough attention but it’s a masterpiece”
Great comic book about getting organized. It uses the characters of the famous TinTin comic books. Tin Tin is a construction worker in england. Very cool. inspiring. to steal characters and rewrite them in revolutionary modes.
