I thought that this movie was Of Mice and Men, so I’m 40 minutes into it and thinking, “when are they going to bring out the handicapped guy?!” Anyways, I liked this better, and I learned something too about the Okee’s life in the early century. I liked David Carradine’s character and the grandpa.
This movie or the book has got to be credited for Match Point somewhere…
Cute and funny! was longer than I expected although this was the first DS game I beat with the help of K saying “you can do it buddy!”
Perhaps, the desire to explore and belong is a comforting evolutionary artifact that synthesizes boundaries and xenophobia. The same human mechanism may lead us to believe we are ‘Jews’ or ‘Nazis’ though we all may come from Africa.
The awkward artificial dialogue made it tiring to watch. The tragic/comedy switching cancelled each other out.
Playing devil’s advocate for the benefits of pop culture, with examples of the increasing complexity over time of much of the stuff found on All Consuming such as Lord of the Rings, The Sopranos and Zelda, and the co-relation of rising IQ scores in the average person, Johnson makes a good case for the brains innate drive to seek challenging experiences.
Wow. Excellent movie. The previews and timing of its release made it a pass for me at the theatres. While watching, I’m thinking, “this is so polished, what else has this guy done?”; like a Bruckheimer movie but thought-provoking and unpatriotic. Makes me realize how naive I am.
A pithy read containing many important fruits.
the future of our survival depends on the consilience between the fields of ethics, psychology, sociology, economics, and religion with physics and genetics. Epigenetics is an approach to bridging the gap. Homo Proteus – the shapechanging man. The gap between belief in transcendtal ethics and empiricism. I imagine Consilience 101. How to unite knowledge.
A broad, deep, dense read and worth it.
It makes me think of the kind of movie Todd Solondz would make in a better mood. And I liked that it confused me, kind of stopped me at times.))((
