A story about "Louis Kahn"

Louis Kahn

by Joseph Rykwert

I didn’t know that I could actually like the use of concrete on a massive scale, but Kahn has built some stunning buildings with massive slabs of concrete that somehow bring out a certain sort of beauty in this otherwise wretched-looking industrial material. His “use” of light in his buildings also amazes me.

Meyer may convince you that these cello suites were meant for the bass!

A story about "Bach Unaccompanied Cello Suites: Performed on Double Bass"

Bach Unaccompanied Cello Suites: Performed on Double Bass

Edgar Meyer does things on the upright bass that you wouldn’t believe are possible. These are truly haunting performances of three of the six solo cello suites by Bach.

A story about "Culture of Nature"

Culture of Nature

by Alexander Wilson

This book challenges the notion that nature is “natural.” Wilson explores the cultural and physical construction of wilderness reserves, scenic highway lookouts, public parks, theme parks, and more. Be ready to examine your own sense of what counts as natural, and also to consider the underlying implications of the common attitude that nature is that place where we can “get away from it all.”
