This is the Western that all Westerns aspire to, and that directors mimic in order to become classics. “Open Range”, for example, is a modern day “Shane”, a movie which shows the sturggles and values of almost every single character in great detail.
In short, that is what makes this movie, about a former gunslinger helping homesteaders against a cattle baron, so great. We see Ben Johnson begin as a bully, yet with an eye for a homesteader lady, and a heart that won’t let him go along with the hiring of “Wilson” the sadist. We see the Swede, whose concern for his friend’s safety actually costs his friend’s life. We see the storekeeper trying to keep peace, respected and conerned for all parties involved. We see many such characters.
And don’t forget the non stop action mixed with drama. A great movie.

What more can you ask for from a movie? Oh yes, the all important characters, and this movie has them. A bullet can find anyone in this movie, unlike most flicks which try to say that if you’re mean and evil enough, you’re invulnerable. It tells of an NCO (Barnes) who is self destructive and goes out of his way to create horror and situations to get other people killed or hurt, and another NCO, who acts with intelligence (Elias). Charlie Sheen plays a character who finds that Elias is the better leader, and is more liable to get you back in one piece.
The trademark scene of Elias with arms raised had to be considered a huge risk at the time. It could have been seen as ridiculous and comical had the movie not proven its worth. Had the movie been stereotypical in format, or not up to standard, the scene would have been ridiculed. It was a huge risk, and it paid off. Probably because the characters were so vivid and belivable, particularly for the era.

Make no mistake. When the movies were released, it was common knowledge that both were about a man returning from the dead for revenge. This one was vastly inferior in every way to “Pale Rider”
Whereas “Pale Rider” had believable, threedimensional characters, a decent script, and a hero who had some sort of motivation, this movie had totally ridiculous one dimensional characters no one could care about, a stupid script, and a hero who just acted mean for no reason all the time with no motivation. It’s hard to talk about one movie without putting them side by side. And this side stinks.

That’s okay for a comedy, but this is supposed to be serious. It is really a hate film directed at Christians, since it states that Jesus didn’t die on the cross. It instead says some Buddhist live several thousand years, masqueraded as jesus, pretended to die on the cross (and survived because he was a Buddhist.), and kept on. Do not try this at home. Do not think being a Buddhist will enable you to survive being executed. You’ll be very disappointed.
A lot of other idiotic contents of the movie include treating Academia like Dr. Watson like buffons, rewriting every single word of ancient History, and making all Christians look like idiots. But as I said, it is a blatant hate film. You can visit IMDB posts on the movie and witness the hate mongers post. You can almost envision the lynch mobs after Christians already. Actually, it takes more the form of keeping them from positions of authority, and keeping them out of career opportunites, not as bad as the persecution they suffer in other countries. It uses the same techniques of past propogandists who mean to dehumanize certain groups.

we have a vigilante who kills a bunch of people becuase a bunch of other peopole killed his family. He doesn’t make any sense. He’s just mean. The addition of the Chief Dan character is not near enough to save this movie. There just isn’t any charm. The lines lack any appeal, and the writing is terrible. You’ll forget every word for a while until previews keep drumming them in your head, and you’ll wonder why. It is very bad, very worthless.

The real story is about the wreck a ship whose last name was “Brown” as I remember. One liferaft set off with the rich people all set and comfy, leaving an officer named Rhodes in charge of an overcrowded lifeboat. He was very weak in his command. The crew just decided to throw off everyone who they could. The closer you were to them, the worse off you were. They were all pretty well let off the hook.
Hollywood, of course turned it into an excuse to throw off the brunette women and none of the blonde women. Hollywood was pretty much the Nazi ideal until the late 1980s, so it’s no suprise. Somehow, the movie managed to make the sick event even sicker.

Spaghetti film means great music to tell a viewer how to feel since there is no plot, poor writing, and no characters worth caring about. It also means crisp sounding gunfire. It also means bad guys can kill good guys, but a good guy cannot kill a bad guy. This is common in most movies, however.
This is even bad for spaghetti. There is nothing interesting, except one bit about insulting a horse. That’s because the horse is the only character you care about.

No doubt, this was a true story. The trouble is, the movie sacrifices too much story for whatever effect they wanted. It actually looks like it was made by grunts. Everyone looks alike. Some are black and some are white. One wears glasses. Other than that, they all look alike. In a fast paced war movie, this is mistake one, since no one watching knows who is doing what and when. It is a muddle. No one can speak English. This may be how they spoke, but it doesn’t communicate anything. Don’t bother watching. It is nothing but muddled confusion. Just read the newspaper. It’s more interesting.

In fact, this movie is nothing but killing dark haired women over and over. Hitler and Mengele would have applauded loudly and given a banquet to the director. It involves a werewolf who only kills dark haired women. This was a sign of the neo Nazi movie making times. Can only be enjoyed by members of the Nazi party, period.

Dork Beach would have been the best title for these dorks who think this living Hell is so great. Two men and a woman swim to an island, then dive off a high cliff into waters they don’t know the depths of. That is reason to rate this R, because some kid might actually do this in real life and becomne paralyzed for life, or dead.
Then they happen upon people as dumb as themselves. To make the plot more senseless, marijuana growers allow a bunch of pot smoking rich kids to stay there. Now, it might be credible if the dope peddlers allowed retired people, working people, anyone who wouldn’t steal their product. But not pothead rich kids. In real life, they’d gun them down day one. No possible deviation from that fact.
It gets worse. The dorks actually believe they can fight sharks. One of them is at least intelligent enough to warn them that it depends on the size of the shark.
At any rate, when a person arrives, the dorks attempt to kidnap that person. I’m sorry, but they’d be lying in blood from my knife if they tried that with me. Actually, if they tried that with 90% of the world’s population. The other 10% would have guns and gun them all down.
Then the hero beds his friend’s beautiful girlfriend, which makes sense, but then, he is forced to have sex with the ugliest woman yu ever saw in your life. Total gross out. She is very gross, and the thought is vomit inducing.
