A story about "Test Driven Development: By Example (Addison-Wesley Signature Series)" — 5 years ago

Will TDD work with a mature product? One that runs into the million lines of code range? Dunno, though I already follow many of the practices found in this book. Time to see what else is applicable.

A story about "Nonzero: The Logic of Human Destiny" — 5 years ago

While a lot of this book so far comes across as special pleading for the author’s thesis of ‘non-zero-sumness’, he has a nice knack for threading together a neat survey of various social structures (cultural anthropology) under the guise of showing our ever-upward climb in interdependence.

A story about "Cocoa Programming" — 5 years ago

I’ll be reading this for months. It’s just personal hobby/education, and the book is huge.

A story about "The Pragmatic Programmer: From Journeyman to Master" — 5 years ago

This is the sort of book I read to continue questioning the central tenets of my profession. It shows inklings of insight, but I’ve only just begun…

A story about "Liar's Poker: Rising Through the Wreckage on Wall Street" — 5 years ago

It’s too soon to say whether I’ll finish this. It is interesting, and the sort of book which makes a quick read, but it could bog down quickly depending on the direction the author takes.

A story about "Singularity Sky" — 5 years ago

Quite an entertaining read. A cross between Joe Haldeman and the Brothers Strugatsky.

A story about "Revelation Space" — 5 years ago

Bought it, read it, looking for the sequel.

A story about "The Photoshop 6 Wow! Book" — 5 years ago

Another of those books you don’t so much read as browse and apply from.

A story about "Chasm City" — 5 years ago

Set in the same universe as Revelation Space, but with an all new cast of characters. I started reading it on the Disneyland trip, but now that I’m back I’ll probably slow down the pace…

Finished during a trip to Chatanooga. Good, a little bit more predictable than Revelation Space.

A story about "Declare" — 5 years ago

This weighs in at over 500 pages, so think of this library book as a preview to decide if I want it.

So far, while the blurb compares the prose to John LeCarre, I think it reads more like Graham Greene.

Update: I did in fact finish this book, after nine weeks, and it is worth it, as every Powers book I’ve read is.
