A story about "Shopaholic Takes Manhattan" — 5 years ago
Updated to add: Eh. I knew it would be more of the same and yet I’m still disappointed.
Oh, shut up. It was on sale at Target. $5.24, people!

It sounds so much like a book that I would love: the weird perspective on a well-known and well-loved novel, all kinds of fantastic creatures, a good sense of humor. Then you get more and more into the book and nothing is ever really explained. You expect it to be at least a little light-hearted and too often it was just deeply depressing. Humor, humor, THWACK with the depressing. It was a fascinating book to read - in serious need of trimming in some areas - but I just wanted more story instead of timespan covered.
I like this one so much more than Wicked! I don’t know if it’s because of the Cinderella connection or that it’s set in Holland, but it’s a better read for me. Maybe Maguire didn’t feel so compelled to create a complex social structure when he stuck to “real” history?
I was skeptical of this series—who knows how a series based on a computer personality will turn out? I love it, though, and wish other authors were this original.
I very much enjoy the mysteries that Donna Andrews writes. She’s smart without being pompous and funny without being fluffy. These characters are just odd, too, which always helps.
Adelle loaned this to me, I started reading it, and left it on my bed when I flew to Houston this week. Oops.
This must be too modern for me. I don’t seem to understand “modern” lit. I need to go back to the 17th century, I guess.
I like books where people quit their jobs and take on a completely new career in which they’re wildly successful. Can we make this real?
I seem to be getting hooked on Elizabethan mysteries …
I liked this much more than I thought I would. I had forgotten I read it until I saw this here again (it’s been a while), but I actually enjoyed it quite a bit.
