A story about "Shine"

Shine

I haven’t had the opportunity to listen to this album for close to 6 years… I lost it on a road trip.

I finally broke down and downloaded it on iTunes this week.

It’s amazing. Very different for Mary, but it’s a superb CD.

Why it's taking me forever to finish consuming "Blue Shoe"

Blue Shoe

by Anne Lamott

I have no time! I am exhausted when I finally get to read it right before bed! But it’s great. Lamott’s fiction is not so much plot-driven as it is character-driven. It’s slice-of-life. It takes time to settle in; one doesn’t come back to the book to “find out what’s going to happen next.” It’s more akin to reading someone’s diary. I suspect Lamott borrows a lot from personal experience in this book—the Alzheimers-plagued mother in the book is one indication.

Lamott is fabulous at describing ordinary people in ordinary lives with all their quirks and foibles. She is brilliant in the detail and description of the ordinary.

I want to be Anne when I grow up.
