A story about "Zapped: A Regan Reilly Mystery (Regan Reilly Mysteries)" — 1 year ago

When I first stumbled onto this mystery series years ago, I really enjoyed the main character Reagan, but as these books progress, I find myself thinking the characters are outlandish and silly. I guess my tastes have changed, because I don’t find these books as endearing as I once did.

A story about "Mummy Dearest: A Claire Malloy Mystery (Claire Malloy Mysteries)" — 1 year ago

While some of the archaeological information was interesting, I found the constant visiting of historical sites and drinks in Claire Malloy’s hotel room to be repetitive. It seemed like there were far more interesting places for parts of the novel to take place than in a hotel room.

Why I gave up consuming "The Host: A Novel" — 1 year ago

I rarely give up on a book, but as much as I liked the idea of this book, I couldn’t get into it. I may try reading it at again at another date. I thought it was dragging.

Why I gave up consuming "Sepulchre" — 1 year ago

The premise of this book sounded so good, but I just could not get into it, but I don’t want to give up on it, so I think I will try reading it again in about a month.

A story about "Frill Kill: A Scrapbooking Mystery (Scrapbooking Mysteries)" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

While the mystery element to this series isn’t always that strong, nor the investigations that interesting, what Laura Childs does well is describing the New Orleans life-style and setting. The books very much feel like you are getting a backstage pass to what type of parties you would get invited to if you lived in New Orleans.

Lovely descriptions of the countryside.

A story about "Scots on the Rocks: A Bed-and-Breakfast Mystery" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book didn’t hold my interest as well as some of the previous books in the series, but it was a nice change of pace to have a Scottish setting, instead of the usual America Bed and Breakfast. Usually I would comment on Daheim’s wit, but I only got a couple of chuckles from this book. Not a bad book, just not a great book.

A story about "Body Movers: 2 Bodies For The Price Of 1" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Quick, funny read. Quirky characters, plenty of love interests and odd setups, reminds me of Evanovich’s early Plum books.

A story about "Poisoned Tarts" — 1 year ago

I thought the solution to the case was somewhat interesting if expected, but the investigation portion was sort of boring. The tension between Dirk and Savannah is kind of getting to me. It’s been going on for several books and obviously they like each other. It’s cute for a couple of books, but would be nice to see some resolution to it.

A story about "Sweet Revenge" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Not quite compelling as her earlier books, but worth reading, because it’s interesting to see how the characters have progressed and changed over time.
