... with tripods as raptors, and plenty of kids in peril (and screaming). Dakota Fanning, I must say, is a gifted actress. I also have to give Tom Cruise his props, although I saw the film in spite of his being in it. (He gives me the creeps lately.)

The special effects were a definite thumbs up.

There’s nothing like Michael’s. I tried the Bear Tracks flavor: chocolate custard with caramel and cashews. After one bite, I was channelling Homer Simpson. “Mmmm…. caramel….”

When I ran into a former co-worker who’s a good 20 years older than me, I was astonished by how great she looked. Turns out she’s been following the Perricone plan to optimize her health. As a side effect, she’s lost 30 pounds.

I had to look into it to see what this Perricone guy is all about.

Wow, what an interesting and entertaining book. I have “Assassination Vacation” on hold at the library, but I was able to get this book in the meantime. Good stuff.

I was afraid it wouldn’t live up to the first four books… but it was outstanding.

Our county library has sort of a book club where, each year, they recommend a book for the community to read. This year’s selection was Bel Canto. I greatly enjoyed it and have been delving into Ann Patchett’s other works.

I read this after Bel Canto, and became caught up in the story. I never quite figured the mother out, which is sort of like life, I guess.

I just loved this book. The dream sequences were beautiful, and I grew to care about Sabine, her grief, and her healing.

What a fun, escapist read! The premise is extremely creative.

A totally fun, fast read.
