A story about "Teddy Bear" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

My teddy bear’s name is Mash. Why? because when I got it my sister was going through a badass teenage phase and called her new teddy bear Hash, and tried to pass it off as being short for hash browns rather than named after a drug. Out of spite I named mine Mash to say it was short for mashed potatoes, but the name stuck.

He is the greatest teddy bear in the universe, and I’ll be sad to leave him behind when I move to New York City next week. I don’t think they’d let me take him as hand luggage on an international flight, he’s way too big for that ;P

WORTH CONSUMING!

This movie came out about 10 years ago but I never got around to watching it. I had always wanted to because it was based on Peter Carey’s booker prize winning novel that everyone said was great, but would save me actually having to read the book.

I was recently reminded of it when my parents told me a story about it. A scene of the movie was filmed in their friend’s mother’s barn, which was quite close to where the movie was set. Had she ever found out that it was a raunchy adulterous sex scene that was filmed in the barn, she would have been horrified, but she died not knowing. Perhaps it’s for the best ;)

GREAT MOVIE!

WORTH CONSUMING!

It will take me a bit longer than expected to finish this book because I accidentally left it under the bed at my sister’s house in Sydney. Damnit, now I want to know what happens next!

A story about "Last Unicorn" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This was the first movie I ever saw at the cinema. It was at the indy cinema here called “electric shadows” which is still there, over 20 years later, but is soon to be closed when the owner opens up a bigger dendy cinema.

I remember parts of it were really sad.

WORTH CONSUMING!

The heating in the cinema wasn’t working. We froze our arses off. The movie seemed ok enough.

A story about "Vegetarian Lasagna" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I bought the lasagne, which she put in a plastic takeaway container, then a paper bag, then a plastic bag.

When she hands it to me I haven’t noticed her giving me a fork, so I go to ask her then empty the contents of my wallet (the coin purse bit at least) onto the floor.

After picking them up I ask about the fork and she looks puzzled and says ‘do you want it heated up?’ and I realise it is stone cold – possibly frozen, I had just assumed they were hot.

So she takes it out of the plastic bag and paper bag, heats it in the microwave for quite some time (making me think it was frozen), then puts it in a new paper bag, then a new plastic bag (Too bad about the environment!).

I then eat it, it is a tad unevenly heated (but not too bad) and a tad sodden, but I can tell that if it was cooked fresh it would be really really nice, it has asparagus and corn and real ripe tomatoes, really nice cheese, good pasta etc (they are a specialty deli so must have good ingredients).
