WORTH CONSUMING!

I read this book in two sittings – which I am finding that I seldom do anymore. This is a great book about the loss, and hopeful resurrection, of a best-friendship. Cameron is smart, thoughtful, caring, but not an alltogether “easy” person to get close to – especially sice the horrible fight she had with her best friend and soul-mate, Sonia. When Sonia contacts her years after the fight, Cameron is “forced” to find her former friend, and maybe herself. A great story.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Now, I really enjoyed this movie in spite(?) of the hype. I don’t tend to pay a whole lot of attention to reviews/hype, so I didn’t have a lot of expectations going in. I thought it was well-acted by everyone, but Sandra Oh knocked my socks off – perhaps because she didn’t need to be as over-the-top as some of the other characters.
Halfway through my boyfriend said, “So, when does something blow up?” – which about sums up how many men will feel about this movie. Hell, I thought it was well worth my NetFlix membership.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I adore Steven Page. That’s all there is to it. Adore. Him.

Soulful, stark, serious, passionate, sad, funny, familiar and not at all familiar. Loved it.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This fairly quick read was funny enough to get me through to the end. The story rang true in many areas – especially when focusing on the fact that modern, urban men seem to have trouble finding that precarious balance between macho jerk and wussy boy – with wussy boy apparently winning out. But the gallant farm-boy isn’t spared, either – the wussies help him overcome his baggage as well. A fun read at bedtime.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I put that it is worth consuming, because I believe just about every book is worth consuming – for soemone. Actually, I think this a nice little book, just not my cup of tea. Probably will be a big hit with Weetzie Bat fans – I missed all that, so I couldn’t relate. Cute story, though.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Since this book was set in a restaurant, to say that I have “consumed” this is perfect.

This is the first piece of fiction that I have truly been “into” in MONTHS! Yes, I have read lots of other books, but none have made me want to finish them the way this one did.

And, I have to say that I wa surprised. I read Summer People years ago, and thought it was too busy, too implausible, too dramatic.

But this story was simple, well-told, heart-felt, and addictive. It actually made me cry, and had a true “Oh my God!” moment.

Well done. Romantic. A nice read. Would make a great chick-flick.
