I could not put this book down. It is so well written, genuine and profound, I finished it within a two day period. It is a story that everyone should read, as there are real life lessons in this, especially in the power of forgiveness. Immaculee is an amazingly incredible person who is a living testimony to God’s power as shown through her ordeals. While there is description of the suffering in this book, Immaculee’s joy, strength and faith counterbalance the account of the horrendous evil that took place in Rwanda.

This book wasn’t as exciting as I thought it would be, but worth the read. One of my favorite quotes from it is “Who are you when you aren’t working?”

This book was OK but not as ‘inspiring’ as I thought it would be. It was an interesting read that was divided up into one chapter per woman or group of women, most of which are mentioned maybe once or twice in the New Testament. It was interesting to meditate on the roles of these women, and the relationship they had with Jesus. I didn’t care much for the reflections at the end of each chapter, however, as I felt it detracted too much from the main story. All in all a worthwhile read, but not one I will be putting on my absolute favorites list.
