A story about "Panati's Extraordinary Endings of Practically Everything and Everybody" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This was one of my favorite books when I was a kid. It discusses the wills and deaths of famous people, outdated practices and customs, and great plagues and stuff. I tossed the book when I finished it, because I had most of it memorized from countless readings when I was a kid, and because it sort of stank from sitting in the basement for ages.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

We didn’t like the book so much, we quit in the middle! Just not hardcore enough fantasy fans, I guess.

Lots of action, not much depth — 4 years ago

The reason I was disappointed by this movie is that each plotline is a good one. I love the Sandman plot; I especially love the Venom plotline, and the New Goblin deserved more than just a few pat scenes and an oh-so-heroic death. I feel like all three just clogged the movie up, it never really went anywhere on any of the plots because it was trying to keep up with all three villains/Spiderman, plus Peter/MJ.

The action, though, was excellent, and awesome CGI on the sandman. I thought of all the plotlines, venom was handled particularly well, with attention given not only to the effects on Spiderman, but on Peter as well. Overall, a good movie, but only for fairweather fans – hardcore fans will feel as though the movie didn’t do the comics justice, and non-fans might feel confused.

Not recommended, but still a good book — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book offers an approach to conquering what it calls an addiction to food. The problem I had with the book is that the method espoused in it is fairly unapproachable by most people. Not only that, but the mehtod is counterproductive to the initial reason one might pick up the book.

I bought the book at a thrift store for $0.25, and I got my money’s worth. Much of what the book talks about is great, and I’ve put it into practice: mirror work, acceptance of self at current weight/size, acknowledgment that becoming thin(ner) won’t end life problems, etc. It’s just that the rest of what the authors offer is hard to swallow – too hard for me, and probably too hard for most other people.

If you’ve tried every diet under the sun and are ready to give up on life because you’re convinced that your food/weight obsession is hindering your quality of life to the point of self-destruction, this is the book for you. If you’re like me, a relatively normal person with an unhealthy lifestyle firmly ingrained and are looking to reform eating habits and activities and thereby lose weight and stop overeating, this is not your book.

Office Max Bookshelves — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I had never thought to use Office Max for furniture, but my father bought us a gift card there. We were surprised to find the prices very good and the items quality. We bought three bookshelves, which are beautiful, were easy to assemble, and are made with quality wood and hardware. I love them!
