Slow beginning — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I actually had watched the beginning of this movie and quit once before. The beginning is horrible and it took a while to get into caring about any of the characters.
Harrison Ford plays the lead character who is targeted to help some high tech bank robbers steal money from a bank through a wire transfer. To help be convinced Ford’s family is held hostage. Ford tries various failed attempts to help them escape.
The last half hour is the best with the most action. Underlying stories could have been played out a lot better.

An average day in the life of .... — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The story of one day at the convenience store. It focuses on Dante, the store clerk’s crazy day. “I wasn’t even supposed to be here today!” he laments all thru the film. Randal, his best friend from the adjoining video store doesn’t help matters either – being rude to the customers and making sarcastic (true) comments on Dante’s life.
I think anyone who has ever worked with the public will sympathize with Dante. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, someone will inevitably do something even crazier.
I didn’t like that everyone had such a mouthful of words. Hilarious when Silent Bob finally lets loose and dances with Jay.

Stay Alive (try to stay awake) — 2 years ago

Opening scene is a guy playing a video game and dying in it, which leads to his death in the same way. Pretty contrived hanging. Afterwards, his friend gets the game and plays it together with his friends. They also begin to die like the characters in their game.
Things happen too quickly in this movie. The kids figure out the game too quick. Reasons why something is happening is given out easily. No mystery or figuring anything out yourself in this movie.
The video game was slapped together just for the movie obviously. This would have been a great marketing tool (and extra bucks) to have made an actual (good) game and sell it in stores.

WORTH CONSUMING!

About a couple living in a third world country involved in politics/good works. When the wife dies, the husband (Ralph Fiennes) searches for reasons why and finds out his wife had other things going on he didn’t know about. Including something she found out about a pharmaceutical company.
I wasn’t expecting to like this movie until after the end. It was very sad. The actors were great and the settings very beautiful.

Silent flop — 2 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

The story starts with Sharon having a bad dream and mom, Rose chasing her down and saving her from falling off a cliff. She wakes up saying “Silent Hill, Silent Hill”. Of course, Rose takes her to Silent Hill, WV where a motor cop (female) follows and tries to arrest Rose, but gets swept up and locked into the town of Silent Hill. Mazes of turns in buildings, cockroaches with human faces, a scary looking being I named “Knifeman” and a church that should be in Salem—the scenes just run into each other, don’t connect and I found myself wondering “Will this ever end?”.
I looked forward to watching this movie (OnDemand on Starz) and was very disappointed. I hated this movie and wouldn’t watch it again.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Saw this on the Sci-Fi channel and liked it. It begins with a blood-covered naked boy walking through the woods and also flashbacks that the sheriff is having about a previous murder/missing girl case. The boy walks into the sheriff dept’s cabin (we’re in the woods here) and things get creepier. You get the history of things that happened before piece by piece and the ending was pretty good.
I liked the special effects of the blood running, then unrunning and the bus scene. The boy calmly walking through the woods is just odd, but memorable. I’d watch it again.
