Why I recommend "Free For All: Oddballs, Geeks, and Gangstas in the Public Library" — 19 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is one of the funniest books I have read in quite a while. I think people will enjoy it even if they’ve never worked at a library. If you’ve ever had any kind of a job “helping” people, I think lots of the anecdotes will ring true.

A story about "The American Scene" — 23 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

“Any man with a superior air, the intelligence of a stockbroker, and the resolution of a hat-check girl—in brief, any man who believes in himself enough, and with sufficient cause, to be called a journeyman—can cadge enough money, in this commonwealth of morons, to make life soft for him.”

A story about "The Thirteenth Tale: A Novel" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Setterfield will pull you right into this fascinating story. The book has the timeless feel of a fairy tale, in keeping with its title.

A story about "Predator" — 1 year ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Dear God, what happened to Patricia Cornwell?

“Her hair is wet and she has thrown on a black silk robe and is naked beneath it, and the satiny fabric caresss her body and rveals the deep hollow between her breasts because of the way she sits sideways on the hearth, bending into herself, her strong arms around her knees, her skin unblemished and smooth for her age. Firelight touches her short, blond hair and extremely handsome face, and fire and sunlight love her hair and her face the same way he does. He loves hr, all of her, but right now he doesn’t know what to say. He doesn’t know how to fix it.

A story about "The Essential Lippmann: A Political Philosophy for Liberal Democracy (Harvard Paperbacks)" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’d read lots of propaganda about Lipmann’s propaganda. It was interesting to see what a fantastic writer he was.

A story about "The Double Helix: A Personal Account of the Discovery of the Structure of DNA" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Entertaining account. Watson is brilliant and pompous.

A story about "Earth Colors (Em Hansen Mystery (Hardback))" — 2 years ago

Reasonably good, but our heroine whines way too much.

A new twist on justice, revenge, and retribution.

A story about "The Fountainhead" — 2 years ago

I’ve tried to read this book 3 freaking times over the years. The only thing it does is make me laugh. Unintentionally, of course. The writing is just so incredibly appalling. I hate to say that an author has defeated me, but Rand has.

A story about "Logic Made Easy: How to Know When Language Deceives You" — 3 years ago

It isn’t easy, no matter what she says. At the halfway point, I’ve learned a lot. She’s an entertaining and clear writer.
