This is one of the funniest books I have read in quite a while. I think people will enjoy it even if they’ve never worked at a library. If you’ve ever had any kind of a job “helping” people, I think lots of the anecdotes will ring true.

“Any man with a superior air, the intelligence of a stockbroker, and the resolution of a hat-check girl—in brief, any man who believes in himself enough, and with sufficient cause, to be called a journeyman—can cadge enough money, in this commonwealth of morons, to make life soft for him.”

Setterfield will pull you right into this fascinating story. The book has the timeless feel of a fairy tale, in keeping with its title.

I’d read lots of propaganda about Lipmann’s propaganda. It was interesting to see what a fantastic writer he was.

Entertaining account. Watson is brilliant and pompous.

Reasonably good, but our heroine whines way too much.

A new twist on justice, revenge, and retribution.

I’ve tried to read this book 3 freaking times over the years. The only thing it does is make me laugh. Unintentionally, of course. The writing is just so incredibly appalling. I hate to say that an author has defeated me, but Rand has.

It isn’t easy, no matter what she says. At the halfway point, I’ve learned a lot. She’s an entertaining and clear writer.
